Inspiring Australia Leadership Groups

Inspiring Australia has three groups which provide leadership for science engagement in Australia.

  • The Commonwealth Officers Working Group encourages a coordinated approach to science communication with stakeholders and the Australian public.
  • A State and Territories Officers Working Group established with the Commonwealth, State and Territory Advisory Committee on Innovation, is facilitating a cohesive approach to science communication by Federal, State and Territory governments in support of the strategy.
  • The establishment of a Science Sector Group brings together national non-government organisations. This group facilitates collaborative activities.

Expert Working Groups

The Australian Government established a number of Expert Working Groups to consider specific areas of science engagement in Australia, and develop specialist reports, including the report by the Council for the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences’ Inspiring Industry to Inspire Australia - Business and Science Outreach.

Expert Working Groups were tasked with developing a draft report for public consultation and then delivering a final report with key recommendations for how the science community operating in that specific area can work together to improve science engagement.

The expert working group reports have not only provided strategic direction but, in addition, have built communities to progress recommendations. Members of the science community are now encouraged to align their activities with these recommendations and where possible to specifically act on these recommendations in order to support a common and collaborative way forward.
