Nominations open for the National Measurement Institute’s World Metrology Day awards

3 March 2017

Nominations are now open for the National Measurement Institute’s (NMI) World Metrology Day awards for outstanding achievement in measurement – the Barry Inglis Medal and the NMI Prize, each valued at $2000.

NMI is the peak Australian measurement body responsible for biological, chemical, legal, physical and trade measurement. Each year, NMI presents these special awards to mark World Metrology Day, an international annual event that marks the signing of the Metre Convention on 20 May 1875.

The Metre Convention created the International Bureau of Weights and Measures and set the framework for global collaboration in the science of measurement and its application in industry, science and society. The theme for World Metrology Day 2017 is ‘Measurements for transport'.

Know someone who has made outstanding contributions to the field of measurement science? Nominate them today!

For information about how to submit a nomination, visit the National Measurement Institute website.

Nominations close at 5.00 pm AEST, 21 April 2017.
