Australia-China Joint Research Centre for Minerals, Metallurgy and Materials

The mineral, metallurgy and materials ('3-M') industries are of paramount importance to Australia and China’s economic prosperity.

The 3-M Centre will provide a platform to foster interdisciplinary collaborations between Australia and China to meet the challenges in the mineral, metallurgy and material industries, focusing on research and development in raw material preparation, process metallurgy, material manufacturing and applications.

The objectives of the Centre will be achieved through collaborative research on developing innovative processes or products, training of young engineers and scientists, application and commercialization of research outcomes, academia and industrial linkages for knowledge and technology transfer, and formulation of informative and strategic advice for the development of government policies. Activities to this end will also include staff and student exchange visits; conferences, symposia, workshops and forums; and public outreach.
