Spark excitement during National Science Week in 2018

National Science Week is designed to engage and excite all Australians, with events, activities, talks and shows for every age group, right across the country.  It is an important annual opportunity to showcase the contributions of Australian scientists to the world of knowledge.

National Science Week will be held from 11 to 19 August 2018.

Right now, the government is offering grants for individuals, community groups, universities, research institutions and other organisations interested in holding an event as part of National Science Week next year.

A total of up to $500,000 is available through the National Science Week Grants programme.  The funding will support local, grass-root events and activities that communicate the importance of science in our everyday lives.

National Science Week is an annual celebration of science and technology, attracting more than a million participants each year.

Activities like exhibitions, expos and workshops are designed to get the community talking about science. These activities help individuals and the community to get involved by making science accessible to all.

Who can apply, and how

Applicants can apply for funding between $2 000 and $20 000 per project.  Projects must involve participation from the general public and promote the aims of National Science Week.
